Pharmacy and dispensing
Dispense prescriptions from stock, safely and in expiry order.

1Dispense a prescription

Open the list
Go to “Pharmacy” → “To dispense”. STAT requests waiting are shown at the top.

Check the patient
Open the prescription. Allergies are shown clearly. Check the dose, frequency and duration.

Choose the stock location
Under “Dispense from” choose the store or dispensing point.

Dispense
Click “Dispense (FEFO)”. AfeySync takes the batches that expire first, reduces the stock and adds the items to the patient’s bill.

History
The “Dispensed” tab lists what was given, by whom and when.
2Ward requests

Ward medication
Medicines ordered on the wards arrive in the pharmacy under “Ward requests”. Dispense them to the ward; nurses then record each dose on the medication chart (MAR).
3Discharge drugs (take-home medicines)

Prescribed at discharge
When a patient is being discharged, the doctor adds take-home medicines on the admission’s Discharge tab.

Dispense
They arrive in Pharmacy under the “Discharge drugs” tab. Dispense them as usual; they are charged to the admission bill before it is cleared.

On the discharge summary
The printed discharge summary lists the take-home medicines with dose and duration.
4Print a prescription

Prescription note
Click “Print” next to any prescription for a note on your letterhead, with the patient’s allergies, that the patient can take to another pharmacy.
